Founded in 1978 under the guidance of acting legend Alvina Krause, BTE is a resident ensemble dedicated to creating bold, community-driven theatre. Our work, including co-founding the Network of Ensemble Theatres, has been BTE an influential force in both the Pennsylvania and International theatre scenes. The National Theatre Conference even awarded its Outstanding Theatre Award to BTE in 2016. Other recipients include the nationally iconic Yale Repertory Theatre, Public Theatre, Roundabout Theatre, American Repertory Theatre, and Deaf West Theatre. Every season, we tell new stories, take new risks, and grow deeper roots—thanks to supporters like you. Join us in shaping what comes next.

Membership Levels

$100 – $499: The Director’s Circle

  • Recognition in season programs

  • Name displayed on-screen in the lobby before performances

  • 10% discount code for Flex Packages

  • Listed on BTE’s website

  • Invitation to Ensemble Circle Party, occurs at the end of Season 48

$500 – $999: The Designer’s Circle

  • All Director’s Circle benefits, plus:

  • 15% discount code for Flex Packages

  • Invitation to private donor events and exclusive experiences

$1,000 – $4,999: The Actor’s Circle

  • 5% directed to the Long-Term Endowment

  • All Designer’s Circle benefits, plus:

  • Two free All-Access Passes

$5,000 – $9,999: The Alvina Krause Circle

  • 10% directed to the Long-Term Endowment

  • All Actor’s Circle benefits, plus:

  • Discount code for Season and Flex Packages

  • Opportunity to serve on a BTE committee

  • Designation as a production sponsor for one show

  • Ten complimentary tickets to the sponsored production

$10,000 & Above: The Founders Circle

  • 10% directed to the Long-Term Endowment

  • All Alvina Krause Circle benefits, plus:

  • Four free All-Access Passes

  • Designation as a production sponsor for the full season

  • A: No. Contributions received after October 31 will be applied to the following season. Listings will be curated annually.

  • A: Yes. Raise the Region 2025 will serve as the official campaign kick-off and will be leveraged to encourage Ensemble Circle participation.

  • A: In some ways, yes. This is a streamlined version based on industry standards and best practices, designed with input from Gray Ink and other successful models. The focus is on structure, clarity, and consistency.

  • A: The Season Supporter tier recognizes individual donations between $25 and $99. Supporters at this level will have their name listed on BTE’s website as a show of appreciation. While not part of the Ensemble Circle, this tier serves as an important entry point for engagement and is designed to encourage future participation in the Ensemble Circle starting at the $100 level, where additional benefits become available.
