Pennsylvania's nonprofit arts & culture sector:

  • Generates approximately $3.4 BILLION in total economic activity in PA
  • Supports over 100,000 full-time equivalent jobs
  • Yields $2.2 billion in Pennsylvania household income
  • Delivers $402 million in local and state government revenue in PA

These are just a few of the findings Citizens for the Arts in Pennsylvania shared with the
PA Legislative Arts & Culture Caucus during the release of Arts & Economic Prosperity
5: PA on October 18.  Pennsylvania was one of 341 study regions across the United
States participating in this economic impact study. To receive a copy of this statewide

In addition to the statewide study conducted by Citizens for the Arts, 7 regional studies
were conducted.  They included:
Allegheny County (Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council)
Berks County (Berks Arts Council)
Erie County (Erie Arts & Culture)
Greater Harrisburg (Cultural Enrichment Fund)
Lehigh Valley (Lehigh Valley Arts Council)
Philadelphia and the surrounding counties (Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance)
Southwestern Pennsylvania (Pennsylvania Rural Arts Alliance)
